OUR PURPOSE

A clearer next step,
one URL at a time.

Index Verdict is a free, independent utility for understanding technical indexing signals and common Search Console exclusions.

What we inspect

We request a public URL using our own user agent, follow up to five HTTP redirects, and inspect the response headers and raw HTML. We check robots.txt rules for Googlebot along the redirect chain and look in a few likely sitemap locations.

Checks include HTTP status, noindex directives, declared canonical URLs, title, description, headings, approximate text, and basic icon discovery. We do not execute the target website’s JavaScript.

How to read the result

  • PASS: no obvious problem was found in the signal checked. It is not a guarantee.
  • WARNING: something needs review, or a check could not be completed. Missing metadata is not automatically an indexing block.
  • BLOCKING: an observed response or directive prevents normal crawling or indexing. That restriction may be intentional.

What we don’t know

We have no access to your Search Console property. We cannot tell you that a page is indexed, reproduce Google’s rendering and selection systems, or predict ranking. For Google’s own indexing status, use URL Inspection in a verified property.

Focused by design

There are no accounts, saved scan histories, scores, or paid reports. The guides explain individual problems and link to official Google documentation. If you find an inaccurate explanation, contact us with the page and the correction.

How the site is supported

The site is intended to remain free. It may be supported by clearly labeled display advertising in the future. Advertising does not change diagnostic classifications.
